Generally vessels haul out onto our hardstand in order to have works done however some do so for long term storage as well. There are a variety of very skilled contractors who you can choose from depending on the services you require. These can be found at our contractors page.
The sequence of events when going onto the hardstand are:
- Wait on the orange mooring until we call you over to the haul out ramp
- Come into the haul out bay
- Follow the instructions of the travel lift operator
- Get lifted
- Proceed to the wash down bay for a pressure wash (recommended)
- Move to your hardstand location
- Props setup securely
- Travel lift moves away
- You start work on your vessel
Note that this can take approximately 1.5 hours so you may wish to grab a coffee or snack in the café once the boys have lifted you out of the water.
Vessel owners are permitted to work on their own vessels and we have a basic, shared workshop area for you to use however please note that the yard area at Vuda Marina only allows registered and fully insured contractors to carry out works in the yard. Please do not ask us to allow non-approved contractors into the yard as refusal often offends. A list of approved contractors can be found on our contractors page.
Should you need unskilled labourers to assist with basic works such as sanding, scrapping paint, polishing, cleaning, hand painting and roller painting then we have a pool of casual labourers that you can use. Rates are $35 per casual for the first 4 hours and then $8 per hour thereafter. The work will need to be supervised by yourself and we take no responsibility for workmanship. All materials, equipment and safety equipment will need to be supplied by yourself.
Working hours on the hardstand are:
- Monday to Friday – 8am to 6pm
- Saturday – 8am to 1.30pm
- Sunday – Rest Day
These times are strictly enforced to allow for an enjoyable time for those persons residing on their vessels on a permanent basis.
