The team at Vuda Marina Fiji are delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted in two of the award categories for the upcoming ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards. The Marina has been nominated for “Services and Support to the Industry” as well as “Visitor Dining Experience”.
SERVICES AND SUPPORT TO THE INDUSTRY
It is fantastic to see the yachting industry being recognized in a supporting role to the overall Fiji tourism industry. The benefits that the yachting industry brings into the economy is many and varied. On average, an international yacht stays in Fiji for 180 days and spends an average of $32,000 with a spend-distribution which basically extends throughout the entire country. The majority of the income spent by visiting yachtspeople is foreign reserves pumped directly into the country.
VISITOR DINING EXPERIENCE
To be shortlisted with such an extensive list of well respected, internationally owned and operated restaurants is a great honour. Vuda Marina’s Boatshed Restaurant and Bar is the only standalone restaurant that is not associated with a resort amongst the shortlist. The Marina and its associated restaurant is 100% locally owned and is operated with an entirely local team. Being nominated against such restaurants is especially encouraging for the Marina given the broad financial and managerial backing of the other nominees.
Last year the marina was nominated in the same categories and won both awards
ABOUT ANZ FIJI EXCELLENCE IN TOURISM AWARDS
The Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards celebrates the outstanding performance of those who have made exceptional contributions to the Fiji tourism industry. The Fiji Excellence in Tourism awards is run annually by a voluntary committee of industry members, overseen by the board of trustees to invite nominations, organise judging and hold a gala event for the prizegiving to honour those outstanding members in the industry.
The mission of the organisation is to recognise individuals and organisations who have gone that extra mile to develop National Tourism and in so doing, have inspired others to share their vision of a buoyant and enduring service industry of supreme national importance.
