Through your kind contributions and amazing generosity, each and every staff member will be receiving $537 to help towards their recovery efforts from the effects of Cyclone Winston. As they say, every little bit counts and the staff want to thank you for helping them and their families. The GoFundMe drive rose around FJ$17,000 together with close to FJ$10,000 that the Marina contributed as well as individual donations we managed to collect FJ$27,924. All of which will be distributed equally amongst the staff.
Initially we wanted to provide assistance on a ‘needs basis’ with those worst affected receiving more but it ended up being too difficult to assess who needed more than others. While some people did not receive any damage to their house where they are staying in Vuda, it did not mean that their parents house in the outer islands survived at all and so it seemed unfair to not reward everyone equally. EVERYONE in this county has been affected or knows someone very close to them who has been affected very severely by this storm and these funds will go a long way to help in the recovery process.
